HRC supported the Herefordshire School games this year by hosting an Indoor Rowing tent in the activity village.   Thanks to Gideon Bramble and Lucy Meredith for setting up the ergos, and connecting them together through a TV display that allowed the kids to race against each other.   Hundreds of children had the opportunity to try out rowing in a safe and fun way.

While the Juniors were at NSR, the masters represented HRC at Monmouth Rowing club.

On the Saturday we had Yvette and Linda (Mas E 2x) in a W 2x against Cardiff city who proved too fast for our ladies.

On the Sunday we had the following crews

  • Mark, Nigel, Jason, Mike P & Beth competed in a MasD4+ against Taunton (MasC4+), then Staines (MasD4+), then beat Avon County (MasD4+) in a brilliantly won event.   This crew had only rowed once before, but the spirit of Korky was strong again, giving us our second victory in this boat.

  • Linda, yvette, Kath, & Karen in Mas 4x- took on the City of Swansea.

  • The Preedy’s in their Mas C 2x took on Taunton in a close heat, and then took on Bristol Ariel in a very close final, where the ladies were being closed down, but also nudged out of lan, but V kept her cool and the umpires moved BA back on course and the Preedy's maintained their lead to win.

HRC masters rowing continues from strength to strength with another unbeaten performance at Worcester Spring Regatta.    Not only did we win the three events, but we won "Korkies" first official race.   The boat proved its speed, and the memory of Keith "Korky" Lawrence was enough to keep the opposition from getting close!

  • MasF4+ (Mike, Clive, JBL, JM and Lucy) beat Evesham E, and then Taunton E.

  • MasC4+ (Jim, Jason, Nigel, Mark & Beth) beat Warwick.  KORKIES first win

  • MasE8+ beat Evesham
